LET YOURSELF BLOSSOM.
Haitian Vodou Overview
Many are coming to this beautiful lifestyle and do not yet know the basics. The very basics – the most fundamental basics. I will be working on that. There is simply so much to learn in Vodou, that hopefully – in time – I may get to cover a little bit of everything for you. This website will give you many facts, which will help you start in Service Ginen. The service of the Lwa.
Vodou is an initiatory tradition.

Services Houngan/Manbo Provides
These are different services Houngans/Mambos provide to their clientele.
Divination – this is one of the most commonly requested services. Depending on the way it is done, fees vary. One can get a reading with the cards, a candle and water reading, or get the Houngan/Mambo to call a lwa. While the first two can be done long distance, calling a lwa is best done if the person is present. More here
Baths – Spiritual baths are usually specially composed for a client so that he/she may be able to achieve a particular goal. Spiritual baths may also be administered to remove negativity, bring up luck, and to open doors of opportunity. Baths are also administered to heal illnesses.
Wanga – this is the second most commonly requested service. A wanga is a spell, a “trabajo” or work, if you will. Wangas are done for all sorts of requests: love, money, work, revenge, etc. Wangas can be really simple or extremely complex; of course, the more complex the wanga the more it costs.
Empowerment/Pwen Cho – A Pwen enhances a person’s magickal capabilities and strengthens his/her magick. This Pwen is activated and used in certain ways to enhance magick and magickal abilities.
Gads – A gad is a protection. It is a cut on the skin that has certain herbal powders rubbed into it. It protects people from negative wanga, unnecessary accidents, and so on. It is placed on the point of a lwa. There are other gads, such as thedrinking gad.
Anva Mo – Used to send one or several Mo (spirit of the dead) against an enemy, or drive one or many of them away from a victim of this type of attack – more here
Lave Tet – This is similar to the rogacion in Santeria. Literally translated it means to wash the head. It is a cleansing of the head, a huge cleansing! It removes negative magick, helps possession occur, increases psychic abilities, adds power to the person’s magick, strengthens them, draws money, and much more. More on the Lave Tet here
Kanzo – This is the initiation ceremony done within Haitian Vodou Tradition. It is deeply spiritual and empowering. Thesecrets are taught to the initiates, and they are empowered. They are given spiritual power items, and much more.
Then there are other things we do, such as consecrate altars, perform house cleansings, hold dances, and much more.

The Role Of Divination.
Why is it that we use divination? What are the benefits?
Divination has a very important role in Vodou. Divination is the most sought after service from a Houngan or Mambo. Naturally, it is also the most popular service I perform. The most common method of divination in Haitian Vodou is the use ofplaying cards. This is also the method I use to divine most often; it is extremely effective and has shown itself to be far superior to tarot cards. Houngans and Mambos may also invoke the possession of a lwa to give the reading.
Divination allows me to see what your problem may be, thetrue root of your problem (because the cause of the problem may be something different than the surface problem), what lwa are involved or interested in the situation, and what thebest solution for your problem is. Having divination before commissioning a wanga will give you (and me) a greatadvantage. In this way, I can discover what the most effective way to solve your problem is.
It is really interesting, what will sometimes turn up as the root of someone’s problem. Sometimes the root has nothing to do with the surface problem at all! Many times, the client does not know the root of the problem. For example, a problem in your relationship may be manifesting itself because of an angered orjealous lwa, an aggressive wanga sent to you, your ownundoing, jealousy, a mother or father in law, etc. There are a million different possibilities, but usually by identifying and fixing this root problem, everything else falls into place. Divination will assist in doing your work. A leson (reading) is definitely worthwhile when it comes to helping you.
Divination is used all the time! Sometimes it is done before the wanga (to see what the best route is), after (to see how it will turn out), to identify the lwa met tet, to see if so and so likes the client, etc.
I strongly recommend that a client get a reading before he or she decides to have any wanga done. This allows us both to seek the best course of action. Not only that, but it also tells us how complex, how strong the wanga needs to be. A reading is of huge help in diagnosis!
